Q.
Can you please help me with this fear of the dentist? I feel silly as an adult walking upto someone and unloading on them! I havent been to the dentist for about 3 years and feel Like this is wrong. I know you see this a lot (haha I have been reading the expert answers for help!) the thing is I don’t know where to start anything I seem to turn my attention to I seem to not want to do if you get me. my dentist was a nice chap- just a dentist! so it’s not him. I don’t know i feel despairing about the whole situation

Hi
there is obviously something holding you back , but you need to try to be more specific about what the problem is .
try to make a list of the things you feel afraid of .
Its not wrong not to go to the dentist for 3 years , there are cultural notions here that a visit to the dentist should be every 6/12 months .
But many people have different rules that they make for themselves and thats ok .
Everyone is different and dentists see lots of different patterns of attendance
So the feeling that’s happening is a rule that you’ve made for yourself .
If you want to have a dental check up with the person who you like as a dentist then make a first step and make the appointment
