I would like all my teeth removed so that I can wear dentures

January 21st, 2013
Q.

Hello, I have really bad periodontal disease and refuse to have the cleaning of my teeth done. Always had really bad experiences with dentists since I was a young child. I am now in my 50′s. Over the years I have for 1 reason or another had teeth removed. My Dentist keeps refusing to pull out the rest of my teeth and let me have dentures. This is causing me a lot of stress as I know my teeth are in a really bad way. I have reached the stage where I refuse to acknowledge that I even have any teeth left and refuse to brush them even. My hope being that eventually one by one they will be removed and dentist will have no choice but to give me dentures.
Is there anything I can do to convince my dentist that this is what I really want.

My dentist didn’t notice the small hole in between my front teeth, I’m scared that if I leave it it’ll get much worse, what should I do?

October 17th, 2012
Q.

Hi Jennifer, I went for a check up just last week because I was worried about one of my front teeth, it has a small hole in between one of the very front teeth and the smaller one directly next to it. I was told I needed 3 fillings at the back of my mouth but he didn’t say anything about the front tooth. It’s been 3 years since I’ve been to the dentist because I’m scared and I built myself up thinking he would suggest pulling the front tooth out or something but he didn’t! I’m really scared now, i’ve got to go back in about a month’s time, I am with the NHS and I don’t know what I should do. Thank you for any advice.

If I have gingivitis, what dental treatments are still okay for me to receive?

October 2nd, 2012
Q.

If I have gingivitis, what dental treatments are still okay for me to have? And what effect will these treatments have on my gums? How will gingivitis affect the various dental treatments that I have already had….what should I not be receiving while I have gingivitis? I require other dental treatments that I feel require more attention than my gums at this present moment. Thank you.

I have been a dental phobic since I was 5, would you consider treating me?

September 3rd, 2012
Q.

Dear Jenny, I have been a dental phobic since I was 5, following an awful dental visit. I have had some dental treatment since at my Mothers insistence, but when I left home I rarely had dental check ups. I haven’t been able to visit a dentist fro years. I believe I need considerable dental treatment, many extractions etc. I have recently been to my local a and e for i.v antibiotics following an abscess which distorted the right side of my face. I need to begin treatments and to attempt to help myself with this phobia, would you consider treating me? Many thanks.

I’m visiting the dentist for the first time in 10 years and I am petrified! Do you have any advice for me?

August 30th, 2012
Q.

My mum has booked me a dental appointment, first one in 10 years after being butchered in the past. I have been suffering alot over recent years, with 5 broken teeth with rough jagged edges and having had linked abcesses with all broken teeth, but I am still very frightened, although the pain in unbearable and eating impossible, what sort of thing can i expect from my intial appointment and check up? Will they have to do, Im too scared of pain and blood and having no teeth.

My mum hasn’t seen the dentist in 7 years, how can I make her go for the treatment that she needs?

August 28th, 2012
Q.

Hi, my mum is petrified of the dentist and hasn’t been in years. Her teeth are getting awful and it’s embarrassing! She smokes too which obviously isn’t helping. I’ve tried everything to get her to a dentist. She said she’s so scared because she had her crown replaced about 7 years ago and she said the numbing injections didn’t work and she fell everything, she said it was really painful. I don’t know what to do, have you got any tips? I’ve told her that she’ll end up with gum disease/her teeth will fall out if she doesn’t go! Any advice would be great, thanks.

I have a crush on my dentist and won’t let him near my teeth, what should I do?

August 16th, 2012
Q.

Hi. I know this is going to sound ridiculous but I just don’t know what to do. I have a crush on my dentist and I get so embarrassed when he goes near my teeth. I have avoided seeing him after he advised that I needed a tooth extraction because of severe dental decay. I can’t face him and he was so professional etc (as you’d expect) I know I’m being silly. Do you have any advice for me? I think it would be better for me to see another dentist but I don’t know how long it would take me to register with a new NHS practice!

Do I really need another root canal treatment?

July 11th, 2012
Q.

Hello, I went through a very traumatic root canal procedure a few years ago. They used local anaesthetic but even then it was still very awful and the pain afterwards was horrible. Furthermore, my dentist was very unpleasant. I’m worried now because the filling has cracked and the area surrounding the tooth is very, very sore! I really don’t want to have the tooth removed but I don’t want the canal treatment done because of last time and I’ve still got the same dentist. What should I do? Please help!
