How long does it take for sedation to wear off?

Q.
How quickly does sedation wear off? The idea of needing to have this to undergo treatment really gives me the heeby jeebies. I don’t like the idea of being out of control especially if I’m going to have to undergo treatment. Is there anything else that can be done to make dental treatment possible especially the invasive kind? thank you for your time Doctor Nery
A.
Sedation wears off quickly – it can be reversed at the end of the appointment. However, there is still some sedative effect for about 24 hours after. Therefore you need tohave an escort to take you home, and should avoid driving or making important decisions the following day because although you feel normal, you might still be still slightly under the influence so to speak.
If you are anxious about treatment and need something done I think you should consider sedation seriously.

Good luck
