Q.
I have an appointment tomorrow, and I suffer from dental phobia. It has taken a lot to get even this far with regards to the appointment.
I know I have a problem with a tooth that may need to be removed. I really feel that sedation can help me, but it’s not done at my surgery. How do I go about getting sedation?
Do I have a right to ask for a referral to hospital? Or may I have to fight to get it?
Thank you

Hi
you can ask for a referral for sedation , but this may entail a long wait.
Ask your local PCT if they have a sedation service in practice .
Otherwise look for a dentist that does Iv sedation by googling the relevant words .
There may be there be other options such as getting some sedative tablets , either way tell the dentist how you feel. Jenny
