Can I Be Referred to an NHS Sedation Clinic?

Hello,
I am 23 years old and due to my fear of the dentist, I have only recently had my first ever dentist appointment. He stated that I would need some extractions and referred me to the sedation clinic due to my nervousness and fear. I was not aware that this was a private clinic. I have since had a consultation at the clinic and they have quoted me about £800 to complete 4 extractions under sedation and gum treatment.  My question is would I be able to get referred to an NHS sedation clinic for this? I don’t have the money to do this, being a recent graduate, but my teeth are causing me a lot of pain. Thanks.

Hello.  Yes you could be referred to an NHS sedation facility, but you will have to ask your dentist to find out where the local facility is and refer you there. There could be a long wait so you may perhaps need some antibiotics if you have any infections.
