Could you please help me overcome my dental phobia?
Hi Jennifer :) here goes… I have suffered from a phobia of dentist for years on end. i am now fiftey and have subsequently had enough of it. I never knew that this was an identified thing and that ther would be websites for it. I now want to overcome my fear but I would like to know how you go about getting a person to overcome their fears of dentist? so If I walked up to you and told you what would be your first step to try and supress the fear? thank you Ms Pinder
Well the first thing I would do would be to sit down with you away from the dental chair , and explore your feelings with you . Sometimes people cry when they are in a safe place to let the pent up emotion out .
However to get to that stage you have to pluck up courage to find a dentist , and ring to make an appointment , and go along perhaps with a friend .
There are many people like you its nothing to be ashamed of .
YOur feeling that you have had enough is a powerful motivating factor , have a look at www.dentalfearcentral.org , and the dentists on this site to see if someone named might suit you
