How can my husband get help for his morbid phobia of the dentist?
Hi There, my husband , who’s 53, has a morbid phobia of going to the dentist and in fact hasn’t been in over 40 years !.
Today he had to go to the GP because he has a tooth abscess which is spreading to his sinuses , the GP was hostile and very rude but did give him anti biotics.
We are in receipt of income support as he is my carer , please can you offer any help or advice at all?
many thanks
Im so sorry that your husband is suffering so much .
If you could let me know where you live I might be able to help you find an appropriate facility for him .
Please dont accept the rudeness and insensitivity from your dr , is there another one in the practice that you could ask for a referral to a dental hospital or Community Clinic . Severe phobia is covered by Special Needs .
You could also ring the Primary Care Trust in your area to ask where the community dental service is .
Hope this helps
