I am scared about having my tooth extracted

Hello, I do not go to the dentist. I have several teeth that are almost down to gum level. How can these be extracted without having to cut my gums? There is nothing to get hold of to extract the teeth. Really scared!

Your imagination is running riot here !
The dentist will take some X rays of the teeth and be able to assess how easy or difficult the extractions will be . I see lots of patients like yourself and funnily enough sometimes the roots are easier to take out when they have got to gum level .
It would be impossible to say that its never necessary to cut the gum , but the whole area is numb during the extraction .
You could ask about having some form of sedative for the procedure , or ask about having IV sedation or being referred to hospital is you are severely anxious .
Hope this helps
Jenny
