I had a bad experience with brace treatment and haven’t been to the dentist in 7 years, what should I do?
Hi,
Ever since having braces in my teens I have been terrified of dentists and have not been for 7 years. I have started getting quite large dark patches/holes on my teeth and its really affecting me as I am too scared to see a dentist. I know I need to do it but I am so scared and also I am worried about my financial situation at the same time which doesnt help.
What can I do?
It’s quite common for people who have had braces treatment to become aversive. To going to the dentist .It also co-insides with the vulnerable teenage years .
Firstly analyse what you are afraid of .
Seeing a dentist doesn’t committ you to anything other than finding out what might be wrong .You pay the costs of an assessment .
Without that first step the rest is just guesswork and you catastrophising to the worst case scenario .
Once you find out then you can make decisions and get help about specific treatments .
Hope. This helps
