I want to know if having fillings hurt?

Do fillings hurt? What are they actually going to do that will hurt? I am proper scared of the dentist and I hate not being clear on what is going to happen. I am having four fillings, two on each side.

The first thing that the dentist will do is give you an injection to numb the nerve inside the tooth , and numb the gum . Some dentists use a numbing gel first .
when they have waited for it to work then they will start to drill the tooth .
If you feel anything uncomfortable , then agree with the dentist before you start , that you will raise your hand . The dentist may then have to wait a bit longer or top up the local anaesthetic . Some patients need a higher dose than others , or to wait longer , particularly for lower back teeth
Hope this helps, dont put up with anything painful , it doesnt need to be like that
