I’m am 15 years old and too scared to go to the dentist
Dr Jennifer, I am 15. i haven’t been to the dentist for about 3-4 years now because i’m so afraid. Every time i pass a dentist’s i want to cry. i’m afraid it will really hurt. i’m having really bad toothache at the moment but i’m reluctant to go to the dentist. The noise, the smell the chair everything just puts me into a major panic attack. I’m scared they wont give me anesthetic if i ask and still, if i do, i’m petrified of needles. please help me overcome my fear asap because i’m in excruciating pain and need to visit a dentist.
Kind regards and thank you for any help that you can give me.
Hello there .
It would be better to find yourself a dentist rather than waiting to have to go to an emergency service ,
You will have your tooth numbed to do any treatment . It wont get better by itself , so at least make an appointment to have it looked at , take someone with you for moral support .
If you go to Anxiety Uk , you will find some tips for your needle phobia .
You should tell the dentist how you are feeling so they can help you
