Is There An Alternative to Gas and Air During an Extraction?

Hi there. I am due to have gas and air to have a tooth out but I am very nervous. Is there any other way? I have had the IV sedation already and woke up having a panic attack. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Hello, thank you for getting in touch. If IV sedation hasn’t been OK for you, then gas and air might work. The only way to be sure would be to be referred for a general anaesthetic.
It’s a bit complicated and sometimes people who are highly anxious can find neither of the two methods you have quoted are going to be 100% effective.
Hope this helps, Jenny.
