My son can’t tolerate the impression putty

My 10yr son has Autistic Specrum Disorder and needs to wear a brace (has crossover bite and tooth being pushed out) but at the assesment appointment we found he couldn’t tolerate the impression putty, he couldn’t tolerate the taste or texture, he was sick. We can try desensortising him to the putty but it is going to be very hard for him to do that as now he is scared of the putty. Can you give any other advice that the orthodontist could do or we could do. Thanks in advance

Ask the orthodontist if he knows anyone with an intra oral scanner to take an optical impression. Good luck with this.
