What are the alternatives when taking impressions?

i have a phobia with impressions iunderstand there is a digital device that takes the impressions is it available onthe natiomal health or where can i get it done

Hello ,
there are digital devices that take impressions for crowns . Its usually called CEREC . No its not available on the NHS . The machinery costs many thousands , plus the cost of getting the crown made .
If you have a problem having impressions because you have a strong gagging tendency , then there are ways to help .
One is the use of a Nitrous oxide /Oxygen mixture called relative Analgesia , this suppresses the gag reflex . Hypnosis can be helpful .
Also some people get through this with a sympathetic dentist who will not get fazed by the gagging . All dentists have seen and dealt with this its not uncommon . A distraction technique is to lift your feet off the chair and concentrate on breathing through your nose, with your head tilted forward and in the upright position in the chair .
Hope you can manage the treatment you need .
Jenny
