What changes can be made to dental practices to reduce a patient’s anxiety levels?

Hi, Im currently doing a dental health course at my local college and need to find out a few thinks about about dental phobia, could I ask, what changes can be made to dental practices to reduce patient’s anxiety levels?
i’m doing an extended project qualification, where i have to research about any topic. As I want to do dentistry in university, i wanted to do something related to dentistry to add to my current college course which runs parallel.I have decided to do the above topic.
Any ideas or opinions based on the topic would be of great help. Thank you!

Crikey this is a big topic! And a difficult one to answer in an email.

May I suggest you do some web research – look up Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) in dentistry, Hypnosis in dentistry, sedation in dentistry, homeopathy for nervous patients, to name but a few.

Good luck and sorry I couldn’t be of more help.

Simon
