Will hypnosis work for my dental phobia?
Hi I’av got a really bad case of dental phobia, but iam also afraid of needles and being sedated, I just get scared that I am going to die when iam asleep. so I am wondering how effective would hypnosis whilst I am getting work down. would i still be in pain or would i just be out of it, please help iam not sure what else i could do
I am sorry to hear of your phobia. You mentioned you are afraid of being sedated, but would that include having oral sedation(I.e tablets)?
Hypnosis may help you – but its effectiveness can vary depending on the individual.
My advice would be to speak to your dentist or doctor about this, and see if they can refer you to a local dental hospital that might have a department which helps nervous patients such as yourself. However, before that you need to see someone to talk though your phobia and see what might be the best way forward for your individual case.
