About Dr Mark Gillis

Dr Mark Gillis earned his dental degree at the University of Bristol Dental School in 1999. He then trained as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery senior house officer at the Royal United Hospital in Bath. While working there, Dr Gillis gained a wealth of experience and knowledge about wisdom tooth extraction, dental implant placement,  and the use of intravenous sedation.

Around this time, Dr Gillis was awarded membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He is also a member of the Society for the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry, an organisation that seeks to develop painless dentistry techniques and improve patient experience.

To build upon his existing skills and knowledge, Dr Gillis also studied for a Postgraduate Diploma in Implant Dentistry at the prestigious Eastman Dental Institute. He graduated with distinction and was awarded the special prize for outstanding achievement.

Dr Gallis has a strong interest in dental implant placement and oral surgery treatments like soft tissue surgery and guided bone regeneration.

As a Dental Phobia certified dentist, Dr Gillis has the gentle approach necessary to help nervous patients overcome their fears and get the treatment they require. To assist anxious patients, he provides intravenous sedation. This is a safe way to eradicate the symptoms of anxiety, leaving you feeling relaxed and in a calm state throughout your treatment.

ON 27th July, 2016

I was dreading the inevitable need for major repairs on old and unstable fillings, and knew that a couple of crowns were likely too. My anxiety at visiting the dentist was compounded by a powerful gag reflex that was getting worse, and things came to a head when during a small procedure with my old dentist I actually got out of the chair, and asked him to stop. I was advised that conscious sedation might help, and went along to speak to Dr Gillis in Bristol. Mark convinced me to try conscious sedation and I've never looked back. Two crowns and a couple of big fillings later I can honestly say that visiting the dentist is now no longer a white knuckle experience. Dr Mark Gillis is, in my estimation, not only a highly proficient dental surgeon but also terrifically good with nervous patients.

Thank you for adding your reivew. It has been sent to the Dental Phobia team and will be published shortly.
