How Can I Get Implants on the NHS?

I am aged 62, on benefits and will take early retirement in Jan 2016.

I have a phobia concerning dentures, just the thought of putting them in my mouth makes me feel sick/ill.  All my life I have feared losing teeth as I get older. How do I get implants on the NHS?

It’s virtually impossible to get implants on the NHS. They are not available in general practice and dental hospitals will only do them very occasionally for people with developmental or surgical defects (cancer etc.)
I’m not sure if you actually need dentures or if your phobia is about the thought of dentures.
How likely is it that you might need them?
You are actually making yourself anxious about something that has not happened yet. If you lose front teeth, how will you cope without any replacements?
Dentures are not irreversible and if you really couldn’t cope with them, you don’t have to wear them.
I’m sorry to be negative, but I am realistic about the possibility of getting implants for you.  Hope this helps, Jenny.
