I tried to have new teeth fitted on 3 different occasions but I suffer from a sensitive gag reflex, can I be sedated during treatment?

Hello, i had my teeth removed 8yrs ago age 22 and have been without teeth since. I did go and get fitted on 3 separate occasions but my gag reflex is too much for me to handle so each time i walked out, even the thought of getting it done makes me panic and gag. Can i be sedated? I am desperate for teeth has i have no social life because of it and my children want to see me smile again, please help.

Hi,
Im so sorry you find yourself in this condition through no fault of your own .
Its obviously essential that you get help to get over this gagging problem to be able to get dentures .
There are different methods for this .
I have used a technique for getting the moulds using a mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen called RA ( relative Analgesia ) the gas mixture makes one feel drowsy and suppresses the gag reflex .
Ive also treated people without this using oral sedatives , desensitisation , and a supportive calm environment . making sure that the person knows that this is a problem that is not uncommon , I will be patient .
If you go to www.dentalfearcentral.org , there is help there , and a new app for phones etc .
