Mu gum is very swollen

I went to see the dentist as I was having a painful toothache. the wisdom teeth was the cause of my toothache. it has sunk in and was pushing towards the left gum thus causing it to tear and was allowing food to pass through the gap. He gave me Metronidazole to calm the pain, but after taking it for three days the pain is still there. The gum is still swollen and red.

My dentist has referred me to the hospital to get it taken out. Please, I want to now how long will the referral take.

Thank You

I cant really answer this . But what I suggest you do is two things
1. Go back to the dentist and say you still have pain , it may be a different antibiotic is needed .2. Get the details of the hospital you have been referred to and ring the appointments department , that sometimes speeds things up , and stress that its urgent as you are in pain .
Hope this helps
Jenny
