People are trying to make me go to the dentist and have a procedure done under sedation. Will that work?

Hello Dr Pinder. I have what I consider a serious condition of dental phobia of dentists but unfortunetly I also have a serious problem with one of my teeth at the moment. I tried to force myself to go to the dentist to get it sorted but it just didn’t work out (I won’t go into detail) but now people are making me have it done while under anesthetic (not conscious) and I’m very scared and not sure I want it. Is this a good idea?

Nobody can make you have anything done when you don’t it to go ahead , because you have to give your consent .
However to sort out your tooth problem you have to decide for yourself to do something.
Sometimes if an extraction is needed for example it is suggested that you might manage to have treatment if you can’t manage it any other way ,by being asleep .
That has to be done at a hospital so that you are safe. I hope that helps your situation.
