I an a nursery Nurse working in childrens Out-patient dept I have had an 11 year old boy refferded to me with Autism. He requires a tooth exraction . He has been to theatre but absconded from the trolly and refused to have the procedure done .I am aware of disrtaction techniques but wondered if you had any further suggesgions?
Hi
This is a very difficult one , I suggest you contact your local community dental service to ask for their advice .
There must be support organisations for parents with such children , and that might also be an avenue for information . Its not just for dental care that this must happen . Sometimes you just have to wait till they are a bit older to have a better chance of getting the procedure done
