I cannot recommend this Dentist and her team more highly. They amongst those rarest of creatures who are both highly empathetic and extremely professionally competent. It would be hard to exaggerate the level of fear and anxiety I was experiencing when faced with the fact I need dental treatment having avoiding going for over five years following an incident which brought back my PTSD with a vengeance. Like most people in that situation I was not only petrified but also ashamed. I found Kate through this site - hence this review - and every single contact I have had with them they have all been beyond compassionate and caring. This care gave me the courage to attend and each time, I have been 3 times now and my treatment concluded, my confidence grew. If you have any fears of dentists or of situations in which you have to trust yourself to others and that makes you scared go here if you can. They are beyond brilliant.
ON 8th July, 2020
I'd had a very unpleasant experience during an appointment with my usual dentist when I was expecting only to have a filling replaced. It had been too high and reducing it hadn't worked as it was still painful when I ate. A short time later an abscess appeared above that tooth and I was told that I would need root canal treatment. I couldn't bring myself to make an appointment even though I knew that it was something I'd have to face at some time as my dentist had told me that the infection could spread to the bone if left untreated. I even considered having the tooth out so as to avoid any lengthy treatment. I'd had root canal treatment many years ago so knew that it wasn't anything to worried about if carried out by the right person. Time went on and I was increasingly worried.
I eventually asked a friend who is a retired dentist for advice and he stressed that it is important that it is done well and strongly recommended Kate Blundell.
I'm so glad that I followed his advice.Everything was right from the first phone call and the warm, friendly greeting when I arrived. As soon as I met Kate I knew that I had found the right person. She listened carefully in a calm, attentive and friendly manner whilst I told her what had happened and she understood perfectly why I was so worried.
During that first appointment she explained exactly what the problem was and how it would be treated.over the next two appointments. I was slightly apprehensive before the next appointment but within moments I was calm and relaxed as Kate helped me to breathe steadily and calmly and whilst she worked she told me exactly what she was doing, explaining the different noises I would hear and always ready to stop immediately. I barely noticed the rubber dam which had been a major part of the problem with my previous dentist.i felt very calm and relaxed during the whole process. I then had a temporary filling which I was delighted to find was the most comfortable I'd had in that tooth for quite some time.
Lockdown then arrived but when dentists were allowed to work again I was very quickly given an appointment
I wasn't at all worried this time and with Kate's welcoming and friendly manner I was soon relaxed in the chair whilst Kate worked in exactly the same calm and efficient manner despite wearing full PPE on what was the hottest day of the year. I was so relaxed that I could easily have slept and found myself almost drifting off as I was able, by breathing calmly and listening to Kate, to detach myself from what was going on and think of other things, a real testament to her skill and kind, understanding manner.
Until it happened to me, I couldn't believe how just one awful experience could create such a dread of visiting a dentist but now that I have met Kate I know that I won't have to worry ever again.
