Swansea is Wales' second city and is a lively, bustling area with plenty going on to entertain visitors of all ages

Located in South Wales, Swansea began life as Sweins eg or ey, which translates as Swein's Island and started to grow in the 13th century. Later, the wool and leather industries became significant as the town continued to grow until the Black Death hit in 1348 and is believed to have wiped out half of the population.

In the 16th and 17th centuries, Swansea grew immensely thanks to the coal mining boom in Wales and shipbuilding also became an important trade. In the 19th century, the city was a major centre for the copper industry and earned the nickname, Copperopolis.

Today, the city has a population of almost 250,000 and is the second most populous city in Wales, behind Cardiff. Swansea borders Glamorgan and is located close to the coast, making it the perfect destination for a break.

Swansea is also home to a host of excellent dentists who provide the latest cosmetic dental treatments, techniques and therapies, as well as a full range of general and preventative dental services.

The city boasts many highly trained dentists with expertise in treating dental phobia patients. Dentists are able to use a range of methods and therapies, from painless injections to sedation, to help patients relax during their time in the dental chair. You will find listed on this page Swansea Dental Phobia Certified dentists who have excellent reputations for their caring nature.
