Hi doctor,

I have a white ulcer type lump on the cheek next to my lower wisdom tooth ( the specific tooth is partially erupted and it needed a filling a year ago which I didn’t have the money to do). I tried to keep my tooth clean by removing any food trapped into the cavity until it fully grows. It doesn’t suffer from severe pain, but the gums around the tooth are a bit swollen.

I booked a dentist’s appointment but that’s in a month’s time as my dentist is currently away.

I am scared the infection might spread until I go to the dentist and affect my health.

Is there something I can do to keep it under control until my appointment?

Do you think I should visit another dentist if I can book an appointment soon?

I’m 17 and terrified of the dentist and recently have been experiancing a very uncomfortable pain at the left side of my mouth, I’ve had some X-Rays done by the dentist and they said I needed one of my teeth out, they started of by giving me simple treatments such as a polish and I was fine with this until they decided to go higher and do a filling and even though it was a shallow filling and they had numbed my mouth I felt every part of it. This put me off even more then they told me I can’t be refered to hospital to get them out. Would you suggest I just baired the pain and let them do it or should I be adamant I want refered?

I’m in agony with toothache, I have a temporary filling in my 4th tooth from the back. During my temporary filling the tooth wouldn’t numb. My mouth and tongue was numb but not the tooth. My options are root canal or extraction. How is this possible if the tooth will not numb. I’m petrified of the dentist and this is only making my phobia worse! Kind regards.

I’ve just started going to the dentist after many years not visiting one. (NHS)

I’ve had a series of fillings, and am really pleased with the work done, and the manner in which it was done.

When paying for the treatment, I was told my dentist will be leaving before my check up in 6 months time.

Its disappointing to get trust in a dentist and now have to start visiting a new one.

Would it be acceptable for me to try and contact the dentist directly by leaving a message for them to call me, and ask if they are moving to another local practice?

Don’t want to pester them, but equally would like to visit them if they’re merely moving somewhere else nearby.
