How can I get over my fear of needles for my root canal?
i have never liked the dentist at all! and after a recent visit my dentist tells me that i need root canal treatment, which i know will involve needles. I really, really hate needles and i wonder if there are any options for helping me deal with the pain of needles? I know that i need the treatment but just the thought of a massive needle sticking into my gum just makes me feel physically sick!
thank you for taking the time to read this and i hope to hear from you soon
A. if you are to have dental treatment then getting over the needle fear is essential
I have a hole in my front tooth, but I am scared of going to the dentist
I am terrified of the dentist which has resulted in me not going for around 7 years. I am only 17 so very worried about the consequence this may have had on my teeth which are now in bad condition. A hole has recently appeared in my front tooth which i guess will get worse. I know that I need to visit a dentist but I am scared of what they will think of my teeth, I am also scared of needles and feel claustrophobic having the dentist so close to my face. I am worried about this and need to find a dentist in the Manchester area who can help me. The main problem I have found is all dentists who deal with dental phobia are private which at 17 I can't afford.
its best to try and get this seen to as soon as you can , particularly as its a front ...
I have had dental phobia since chlildhood, what can I do?
i have a real dental phobia, to the point where i cannot walk in to a surgery without hyperventilating and suffering extreme panic. I was held on a chair at the age of 8 yrs old for an extraction, and will take high levels of painkillers to avoid the dentist. I have already had 1 extraction under sedation, this was the last resort when the painkillers no longer worked. My teeth need some attention and i have another loose tooth which is possibly going to fall out soon. I have regular pain as well. I would like a dental phobic dentist reccomended by yourselves, nearer to where i live, that can offer full sedation for the work i need. I have read your website with interest and this has prompted me to write, although the word dentist sends me into a blind panic. I live in lewisham and have a husband who can drive me. I cannot make an appointment for the london clinics as this would mean train travel which is probably not a good idea after sedation!
Sorry for rambling on, but i am in need of some advice,
Thank you in advance

Can the WAND help cure my fear of injections?
I just wanted to ask a question about injections and in particular the WAND. My phobia stems from my fear of needles and I know if i could overcome this fear then I would be much happier with my dental health. I have heard of the WAND and it seems like a really good option for people like me but I just wondered do you know any clinics who use it in the North West? I am originally from Manchester but if I had to travel for treatment I definitely would.
I am not in the best of oral health and think that two teeth in particular need to come out, but of course you need an injection to do that, so any information you could give on a local dentist who could help with my dental problems and phobia would be really, really appreciated!
thank you very much for your time, and I hope you have a good day

Can dentists offer sedation when fitting dental implants?
Thank you for taking the time to read this email.
I have suffered from dental phobia for a number of years now, which has meant many missed dental appointments, and therefore a very poor level of dental health at the moment. I definitely feel that at least one tooth should come out before it causes any damage which worries the hell out of me and I would like to replace that tooth with an implant, which scares me even more!
I was just wondering for this procedures is sedation possible? I feel if i was knocked out it would be a lot easier to deal with the situation and I have severely learnt my lesson and feel that my dental health will become a priority in the future. Could you recommend any clincis with sedation in the country? I live in Leeds so anywhere near there would be best but i really feel that I need this treatment and sedation so I would travel further if i had to.
thank you very much for your time and any help you can give
yes its possible to have sedation for extractions , and also having implants placed .
